Welcome to the Mosh Pitt Magazine

This is the first official post of the Mosh Pitt Magazine.  Who I am, Jared Lubawski.  I've been an active member of the Pittsburgh Metal community for 5 years.  Just like the rest of you, I've played in many bands in the area.  To name a few, Hellisher, Noisomethane, Beneath the Remains, and my most recent endeavor Rottrevore.  I have a job, a family, and a home.

If you've taken notice, cultural scenes seem to be on the rise in the area.  People are noticing Pittsburgh for more than just the sports teams now.  Films are being shot on what seems to be a yearly basis in Pittsburgh.

The hip-hop scene is gaining national respect.

Where does this leave the metal community.  I say, on the rise.  There are a lot of good things happening currently in Pittsburgh.  Lets start with Facebook.  The community has recently begun to try and unite with the Pittsburgh Metal Musicians and Pittsburgh Metal Community groups.  They have currently 250 and 520 members respectively.  The musicians community has been reserved for musicians for 'professional' discussion, while the community is a no-hold-barred atmosphere.  Since forming the community, it has already had a successful tailgaiting session at the Slayer/Exodus/Zombie concert... with even a banner to display.

Although I did not personally attend this, I heard it turned out to be a great success.  There is now another tailgate planned for the upcoming Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival at the What-ever-it's-called-now Pavilion in Burgettstown.  Although, presumably everyone there is a metal head of what ever variety, however if a planned community gathering takes place... success.  There is camping trip planned at the Bennett Acres Campground.   I know this doesn't encompass everything, but it's just a taste of the happenings in our community from Facebook.

Next, a recent compilation was released showcasing 16 of Pittsburgh's metal acts.  Innervenus Records took it upon themselves to package these bands up and put out a superb cd.  These are the featured bands:

Hero Destroyed
Complete Failure
Storm King
Invader
Fist Fight in the Parking Lot
Molasses Barge
Sistered
Dethlehem
Brutal Epidemic
Beneath the Remains
Ten of Swords
Torrential Bleeding
Metacide
Leprosy
Abysme
Vulture

Seriously... look at that line up.  If you dont know who any of those bands are, take a minute to find out.  You will be impressed.  There is an awesome blend of the sludgiest of the sludge, to the metal-est of the metal.  Please take some time to listen to the bands there.

First blog complete...  Design work on the printed versions begins soon.  Please, email me anything that you may want included in the printed version... or online here.  You'll be given proper credit.

Thanks, Keep it Metal
